My Library

I love the weaving of words.  I read all the time.  In fact, I've been known to read up to five books at one time.  All different genres.  Crazy, right?!  I promise my children are fed, bathed and well cared for.  As for my house, well, I'll leave that to your imagination.  :)

I have some books on Kindle, but I also have the 'old-fashioned' paper kind.  I love my Kindle and would not trade it for anything.  In fact, I think everyone should have one.  But sometimes, the feel in your hand, the sound of the turning page, the smell of the binding... just brings comfort.

Here are some of my current bedside favorites.

Jesus Calling

By Sarah Young

I love this devotional!  The Lord has used the words on these precious pages to speak truth into my life over and over.  I have gleaned so much about His character.  It is written with God as the first person speaking directly to you.  Such a personal start to your day from the Lord Almighty, girded in the truth of scripture.  I've enjoyed it so much, it has become my 'go-to' book as a gift of encouragement.

And guess what?!  They also have a children's devotional!

It is written the same way, but in language that little ones can understand.  And there's even an app too.  The app is slightly interactive where the kids can make the bird tweet and dance.  So fun!

Mended: Pieces of a Life Made Whole

By Angie Smith

This is another book written in short devotional style.  Read daily or as the mood strikes, you will be encouraged, stretched and challenged to experience more of Him.  Angie is transparent through the daily trenches of life and shows how God can be magnified even in the brokenness.

Wrecked: When A Broken World Slams into Your Comfortable Life

By Jeff Goins

We are a generation who wants to make a difference.  Yet finding purpose in the daily grind can be a challenge.  It's about intentional living and pursuing passion with purpose and no regret.

Moving Forward After Divorce: Practical Steps to Healing Your Hurts, Finding Fresh Perspective, Managing Your New Life

By David and Lisa Frisbie

I purchased this book several months ago and allowed it to sit on my night stand collecting dust.  In fact, I almost returned it.  One night though, after a trying day, I turned to chapter one and found so much hope.  There are several 'divorce' books out there.  But this one encourages you to move forward in healing by relying God's grace, sufficiency and promises.  You will learn healing is possible by reading the stories of those that have been there and learned to move forward.  It's comforting to be validated in your feelings and know you are not alone.

I've learned quite a bit about our Lord's sovereignty in my reading.  His Spirit will whisper common themes of truth or spiritual nudging or sometimes down right conviction through the books I read.  Whichever I choose to read, He will speak what is needed for that day or hour or minute.

I'm curious to know... do you read one book at a time or do you have several you read at once?  What are some of your all time favorites, and what are you reading right now?
