Camping get-away

We left on Sunday afternoon and headed to Nashville IN for a camping retreat. Our cabin had a picnic table and fire pit outside. Inside was a set of bunk beds and a full size bed. It was right next to the bath house, so that was very convenient for toddlers. It was also right across from the play ground. We couldn't ask for a better location. On Sunday evening we got McDonald's for supper and went to play at a school play ground. We also drove by the Little Nashville Opry that burned down by arson the week prior.

On Monday we spent the first half of the day in Nashville at the shops. Daniel bought a hat, Madelyn a sweatshirt, David a piece of Thomas track and I bought myself a purse. We ate lunch at a quaint little restaurant before heading to the State Park.

Silliness in the shops!

At the State Park, we found some ponies for the kids to ride. Madelyn especially had a blast! The girl loves her horses. David was done about half way through the 2nd time around.

We walked some trails in the park and the kiddos and Daniel climbed a fire tower look out. We stopped at the nature center and saw snakes, birds and turtles. We then headed home and cooked out hotdogs and s'mores on the open campfire. It was a fun but exhausting day.

On Tuesday, we packed up and then headed to breakfast at the local McDonald's. The McDonald's was the high-light of David's trip. The entire store was decorated in trains. They had trains on the seat backs and even had a track suspended from the ceiling with 2 trains going around. Here is David explaining to Thomas and Emily where they were and showing them the big train above his head.

We finished up the day in Nashville at the shops and then headed home. The kids really had a great time. When we got home, Madelyn walked in the door and looked around and said, "This is not the camp house! I want to go back to the camp house!" We'll definitely be going back!
