5 minute Friday - Roar

1 Peter 5:6-11

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Go

The devil prowls, roaring and waiting to devour.  But oh, what beautiful words Peter writes.  "God's Mighty Hand will lift you up."  "After sufferings He will restore and strengthen."  "We are to resist him, stand firm in our faith and know that we are not alone."

God is with us.  But notice Peter also mentions other brothers and sisters in Christ.  I know all too well, what Peter means.  God seems to put people, friends and circumstances in our lives to draw us closer to Him.  I can relate to so many other people, not because our stories are the same, but because He is the same.  Our God has an unfaltering Character that He shows to those who believe in Him.  He has the ability to speak strength and peace in our lives regardless of circumstances.  I am blessed to walk beside some Sisters in Christ who know all too well, what God can do in any given situation.  They are living testaments to what He can do if we remain steadfast in Him.  And even though the devil is real and ready to pounce, the ultimate battle is already won.
