Hide the Word Wednesday.....or Thursday

Well, I thought about our memory verse briefly yesterday and then of course it slipped my mind. Yesterday I had my first doctors appointment. I was so nervous yesterday morning! What a whirlwind of emotions. Everything went well though. Except that they changed my due date back to March 13th. That's kind of a bummer! But I guess it will work out well. That way maybe this baby will have it's own birthday and not have to share one with David. :)

Let's see, for our memory verse this week, it will be 1 John 4:10:

This is love: not that we love God but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

The word atone in the English language is defined as; to make amends for a former misdoing. In God's omniscience (or all-knowing ways), He atoned not for our former but for our future. Once, for all. He made the ultimate sacrifice just because He loves us and desires for us to have fellowship with Him. He longs for our company. His sacrifice allows us to approach His throne of grace, not because we deserve it, not because we've earned, but just because He loves us. The bible says in Isaiah 64:6

6 We are all infected and impure with sin.
When we display our righteous deeds, (before God)
they are nothing but filthy rags. -NLT

-parenthesis mine

We have nothing to offer to Him that can match His ultimate sacrifice because of the sin we carry. But accepting His gift of love allows us to be seen as pure in His eyes. Admit that you are a sinner or do bad things, believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again, and ask Him to forgive you and to come into your life. You will gain a friend that will never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

As you meditate and learn this verse this week, praise Him for His love, thank Him for His sacrifice, and take the opportunity to sit at His feet basking in His presence, knowing He loves your company!

Remember to review your previous verse! And may God bless you in hiding His Word!
