Another taste...

Tonight David came home with homework for the very first time. Yes, folks.....homework..... in preschool. Apparently due to the snow days, the class got a little behind and the teacher wanted them to get caught up at home. Let's just say, that tonight I was confirmed that I'm not cut out for home schooling my lovely children. Here is just a sample of our evening....

Meticulous coloring....not at school or at church. He brings those papers home and they are usually hurried and never inside the lines. No, not then....only when coloring at home during homework.... when there are 12 little planes, a large nest, a medium sized dog and a picture of George Washington to color. The above 2 planes, took approximately 5 minutes.....each. I knew then I was in for it.

Look at this face....I believe the dialogue before this picture went like this....

David: Can you do my homework?
Mom: No David
David: Try Mom! You can do it! You just need a little bit of practice and you'll learn.

I truly believe this boy was put on this earth to teach me patience. He had this bizarre need to stretch before each activity, especially when asked to write his name on his paper. There were blast off noises with each number and letter he traced. I repeated the phrases "pay attention" and "focus" at least 30 times each. And at one point I was explaining directions for his paper and he quipped: "Are you kidding?! Come on Buddy girl!" To which my response was hysterical laughter...... only to stop the tears.
