Build-a-Bear....or Kitty

We decided to take the kids to Build-a-Bear so they could choose something special to give their new baby sister. I thought there might be a little disagreement on what to choose, but they both did well. There are so many choices, but they finally settled on a little gray cat.

Here is the cat pre-stuffing.

They each chose a heart to put in and each got to help stuff their new cration.

Checking out the softness....

Then it was time for the fluffing and brushing station.

Madelyn chose the cat's shirt, and David chose a jean skirt for her to wear. When it came to making the birth certificate, they chose the name Ellie for their Cat. They are both excited to give Ellie to their little sister. They know she will love it and I do too!

After Build-a-Bear we did a little more shopping in the mall, then headed to Babies R Us to pick up a few things. Daniel and I decided that just in the last 4 years, things sure have changed. We came across this little product....

There were several choices in colors and sayings, like "tinkle, tinkle little star" and "oops!". Personally we find this hilarious and just silly. It would take more time to get this thing out and keep it in place on a wiggly baby than what it would be to just be quick and change the diaper. Maybe they know something we don't, but I think they just grab new parents' attention and money.

We finished our day at Steak 'n Shake for supper complete with family milk shakes. Daniel and I had a great time with the kids. This was probably our last major outing with just 2 kids in tow. :)

By the way, I think this may have also been the kids first time to a mall. I really don't have to go to the mall that often since most of where I shop is just around here. The times I do go to the mall for Christmas shopping or birthdays or whatever, they never tag along. When we first walked in they kept saying "wow" and were just mesmerized. I guess city kids get a first too. :)
